Motor Test Report 30 
Horsepower Single-Phase Written-Pole
® Motor 

A 30 hp, 1800 rpm, internal rotor Written-Pole™ motor designed to operate on a single-phase input was tested at Hydro Quebec's LTEE motor test laboratory in Shawinigan, Quebec. The purpose of the test was to evaluate the performance of this new design, which represents a more conventional configuration than earlier external rotor motors offered by precise Power Corporation of Bradenton, Florida. 

Laboratory Testing 
Laboratory personnel conducted a wide array of tests to verify the motor's operating efficiency, starting performance, and locked rotor characteristics. Since conventional three-phase test standards are not applicable to this single-phase design, a modified input/output text method was used to evaluate the motor's operating efficiency over a range of loads varying from 25 to 135% of rated load. 

The Written-Pole™ motor exhibited exceptional operating efficiency with a measure efficiency of 94.2% at rated load and 94.5% at 125% of rated load. The high operating efficiency and near unity power factor contributed to the motor's low operating temperature with a measured temperature rise of 45ºC at rated load.
